Western News readers select Best of the South Okanagan

The spotlight was shining on some of the best the South Okanagan has to offer Thursday night at the Day's Inn in Penticton.

Awards were presented to the Best of the South Okanagan as chosen by readers of the Penticton Western News.

Peter Bros. Construction was named Business of the Year.


Get a Headstart at Body and Sol Hair Salon & Spa picked up awards for New Business of the Year, Best Spa/Esthetician and Best Hair Salon.

Kettle Valley Railroad was named Best Tourist Attraction.


Skaha Meadows earned top marks for Best Golf Course.


City Centre Fitness won for Best Fitness/palates.

Nu Floors was named Best Place to Buy Flooring.


Canadian Tire earned the honour of Best Sports Shop.

Andres Audiotronics won for Best Place to Buy a Cell Phone and Best Place to Buy Home Entertainment Equipment..

The award for Best Place to Buy Shoes went to Fritz Shoes.


Nature's Fare won for Best Health Food/Vitamin Store.


Quality Greens was named Best Place to Buy Fresh Produce,

Art Knapps won for Best Garden Centre/Flower Shop.


Grant King Men's Wear claimed top spot for Best Men's Clothing Store.

The Bay was named Best Women's Clothing Store and Angel Babies earned the award for Best Place to Buy Children's Clothing.

Guerard Fine Furniture won for Best Home Furnishing/Decorating Store, Staples Business Depot won for Best Place to Buy/Service a Computer and The Bike Barn won for Best Place to Buy/Service Bikes.


The Barley Mill won for Best Pub as well as Best Beer/Wine Store.

Muntz Stereo Centre was named Best Place to Buy a Car Stereo.


Save On Foods took top spot for Best Grocery Story.

Cobs was named Best Bakery and IGA Marketplace won for Best Place to Buy Meat.


Skaha Ford was named Best Place to Buy a New Car and Best Place for Mechanical Service.


Bob Brown Buick GMC Chevrolet won for Best Place to Buy a Used Car.


Penticton Toyota led the way as Best Place to Buy a Truck.

Leisureland RV Centre won for Best Place to Buy an RV.

Parker Motors was named Best Auto Body Shop and OK Tires topped the list for Best Place to Buy Tires.


Midas Auto Service won for Best Muffler and Brake Shop.


The Bears' Den won for Best Breakfast.


Shades on Main took top spot for Best Lunch.

La Casa Ouzeria won for Best Dinner and Theo's Restaurant was named Favourite Overall Restaurant.


Tim Hortons topped the list for Best Coffee/Tea.


Burger 55 won for Best Sandwich/Hamburger.

Murray's won for Best Pizza while Boston Pizza earned top marks as Best Family Restaurant.

Logan's Mini Brew won for Best Place to Brew Your Own Beer & Wine, The Mule was named Best Night Club and Elephant Island picked up the award for Best Winery.

The award for Best Hotel went to the Penticton Lakeside Resort.
