Black Press Media is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Eichinger as Penticton Western News general manager.

Growing up in the Okanagan, Heather’s leadership has been exhibited over her decades in community news advertising across all media, including radio and television.

She joined the Western News team in September 2023.

As a seasoned salesperson, Heather understands the importance of building strong, lasting business relationships, and providing her clients with excellent customer service.

“The Penticton Western News is a long-standing community partner with a dedicated audience. I am looking forward to working with the organizations and businesses that make Penticton such a great place to live and work,” Heather said.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys taking part in networking events, and she plans to be very involved in the communities in the South Okanagan.

She also loves to travel and attend music festivals.

As Black Press Media looks to continue providing Penticton residents with crucial and credible community news and client solutions, Heather is looking forward to connecting with local businesses and organizations.

On Monday, March 10, Black Press Media’s ownership transition was approved by the BC Supreme Court. Under the terms of the transaction, Black Press Media will continue to be Canadian-controlled and operate the Penticton Western News, alongside its 80-plus local news publications – both online and in print – across Western Canada.

New ownership will include Carpenter Media Group, formerly Carpenter Newsmedia, which operates leading community news publications in the southern United States, as well as Canso Investment and Deans Knight Capital Management.

“This plan will lead to a stronger, more sustainable Black Press that will continue to provide by far the best local Canadian and American news coverage in our markets and the best ways for advertisers to reach their customers,” said Glenn Rogers, chief executive officer of Black Press Media.
