Community foundation adds regional development co-ordinator
A grant from an anonymous donor has allowed the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan to hire a regional development co-ordinator.
“Sarah Trudeau brings to this position a strong background working with local non-profit organizations as well as experience in community development, specific to the communities in our region,” said Aaron McRann, CFSO executive director.
“The first order of business for Sarah will be to identify key partners and establish relationships in the South Okanagan and Similkameen region so that we can learn how to better serve these communities. Part of her position will be to work with these communities to build Smarter & more Caring Communities, an initiative of Community Foundations of Canada. We’ll need to learn about all the great work that is already being done and then identify how we can help build on it.”
“I am excited to dig-in and start working with these communities and learn what they envision a Smart and Caring community to be. We have such a diverse and unique region with people and organizations who are already building Smart & Caring communities. We want to listen and help make their vision a reality,” said Trudeau.
The Smart and Caring Community Initiative will enable the foundation to build a region where everyone is given the tools and means to become engaging and active members of their communities. Each community will be connected by the common goal of building a Smart & Caring Nation while they focus on making their unique vision a reality for their own Smart & Caring community. CFSO will be with them every step of the way as local citizens imagine a smarter and more caring community.
The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan has served our region for 21 years, working with donors to create legacies in the form of permanent endowment funds. Grants are distributed from income earned, preserving the capital to ensure a perpetual stream of funding.
