Penticton workshop focused on sexual abuse information

A sexual abuse information workshop is being offered to the public by donation in Penticton on Monday.

This workshop is geared for anyone working children or youth, or if you would like to be prepared to help a child who confides in you. Organizers said it may also be helpful for anyone who has been sexually abused as a child.

During the session topics explored will include what constitutes sexual abuse?, what are the most often seen symptoms in a person who has been sexually abused?, how you can cope and which population has the highest risk to sexually abuse a child.

The workshop will be facilitated by Donna Marie Hockley, a registered professional counsellor of health in balance educators.

The workshop will take place on Feb. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Penticton Seventh-Day Adventist Church hall on 290 Warren Ave. W. To register contact Connie Kiefiuk at 250-496-5966 or email ckiefiuk@shaw.ca. Due to the very open discussion on the subject, it is not appropriate for kids of any age to attend.
