Soap box races, decorated bike parade, crowning of the new queen and the traditional May Pole Dance were some of the fun activities at the 93rd Naramata May Day celebrations at Manitou Park.

With the exception of a few drops during the soap box races in the morning the day remained dry as emcee John Moorhouse, as he has for many years in the past and for the final time this year, skillfully guided the festivities through the day to the delight of the hundreds of people attending.

The parade into the park was led by the Summerland Pipe Band and soap box champion Mitchel Roukema who finished just ahead of runner up Jasper Ansems.

Mya Halladay took over the duties of May Day queen for the next year from outgoing queen Madeleine Zeller.

Following the afternoon races was the community dance at the Naramata Elementary School gym.
