Are you seeking an organization where you can make a meaningful contribution to your community? Consider joining the St. John Ambulance volunteer brigade. We specialize in providing advanced first aid and healthcare services at community events, and we’re also integral members of local disaster response teams.

We welcome individuals over the age of 18 who possess at least a standard First Aid/AED level “C” certification. You should have a strong passion for providing first aid and the physical and mental capacity to assist injured or ill patients. For those aged 16 through 18 parental or guardian approval is required.

As a volunteer, you’ll benefit from comprehensive training in advanced first aid techniques, including spinal care, respiratory management, and the administration of Naloxone. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside like-minded community members with diverse skills, interests, and experiences.

Willa, a current member comments: “I’ve had the privilege to provide vital first aid services in my hometown and across BC. Whether it’s assisting at local community events, supporting wildfire evacuation centres, or actively participating in the COVID-19 pandemic response, my training has equipped me to ensure the safety and well- being of those in need. Through this experience, I’ve not only prepared myself to pursue the field of paramedicine but also developed a deep sense of fulfillment from serving others in times of distress”.

We understand that your time is valuable, so our volunteer scheduling is flexible, allowing you to participate based on your availability. Upon joining, you’ll be assigned a mentor to guide you through your initial volunteering experiences, ensuring both your success and the success of our organization. To maintain membership, you`ll be expected to complete 30 hours of training and 30 hours of volunteering annually. If this opportunity interests you, please reach out to recruit.officer.div740@sjabcy.ca. Our recruitment officer is eager to discuss volunteer opportunities available in Kelowna, Penticton, and Vernon brigades.
