Mad Melody Records is kicking off the long weekend by presenting the Yin & Yang DJ/hip hop event at The Cannery Stage Theater on Friday.

In conjunction with West Ave Productions, the two record labels bring some of their best artists to the show including Mad Melody Records artists MC Bodhi, P-City, Adanacmorf, Toxik Emissionz and Jay-E. West Ave production artists that will be performing include found Abstrskt Sonance, Pixy and Reveal and Kelowna independent DJ/electronic artist Mode.

The two labels host similar sounding artists to create a well-blended show. Headlining is 19-year-old Pixy, a female vocalist emerging in the hip hop/dub step genre that brings a captivating stage presence and orignal sound. Alongside her will be Abstrskt Sonance, who is quickly raising to be one of B.C.’s most upcoming artists. He performed at Shambhala this year and works closely with legendary Vancouver rapper Emotionz.

Mad Melody hip hop artists will open the event with Jay-E, Toxik Emissionz, MC Bodhi, P-City and Kelowna duo Adanacmorf consisting of Ceald Fate and JDK Non-Stop.

DJ electronic artist Mode will end the night with a full blown dance party performing his pump up dance beats putting everyone in a proper dancing mindset. This will be accompanied by a spectacular light show.

In the lobby a concession will be selling pop, water, snacks and homemade baked goods. A table will also be set up with t-shirt sales and a donation jar in support of Mad Melody Records, helping cover their touring expenses for the upcoming ArtsWells Festival.

Fibonacci Cafe and Roastery is sponsoring the event and will also have a table set up selling premium coffee.

The Yin & Yang show is on Friday at the Cannery Stage Theatre (1475 Fairview Rd.). Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. This is an all-ages event and tickets are $10.
