Upcoming events, concerts, live theatre, art exhibitions taking place in Penticton and the South Okanagan.

June 2 — Allan Crossley Quartet (Larry Crawford, Yanti Stefan Bienz, Allan Crossley) delivers fun jazz standards along with originals. They are performing at the Dream Café. Tickets are $33 for premium seats and $18 for the wings.

June 3 — Lion Bear Fox, a folk-rock group from Vancouver, are one part rock, a pinch of gospel and a dash of growl. The trio are performing at the Dream Café.

June 4 — Join Dorian Goodwin for a free concert at Cannery Brewing. He will perform from 6-8 p.m. No cover charge. Come and support local, live music.

June 9 and 10 — Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley is well-known from his many years as the featured accompanist with Jackson Brown and leader of his own band El Rayo-X. He is performing solo delivering American folk, blues and world music at the Dream Café. Premium seats $60 and wings $45.

June 11 — First annual Okanagan Valley Big Band Bash featuring the South Okanagan, Okanagan Valley and Lake Country Big Bands, along with the Thursday Night Jazz Band and Dreamland, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Main Drop-in Centre. Call 250-493-5822 for advance tickets.

Until June 8 — Front Street Gallery is featuring guest artist Merle Somerville with Gratitude: Nature’s Bounty. This is a collection of art by the award-winning master photographer.

June 2 — First Fridays open mic night at the Penticton Art Gallery, starting at 7:30 p.m. Free event, all welcome.

June 3 — Join Special K and C-Dawg for an Animal House themed Toga Party at The Elite Restaurant starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 at The Elite.

June 3 — Put your running shoes on for the KVS Pub Beer Run on June 3rd. This 10K run hosted by Hoodoo Adventures will have participants run along the KVR Trail to 3 breweries and 2 additional beverage stations. Register today and get training.

June 7 — A Forever Frozen Story, presented by Tohu-Bohu Productions, is an interactive large-scale musical in the world of Hans Christian Andersen’s fascinating tale. Performance at the Frank Venables Theatre is at 7 p.m.

June 8 — Pecha Kucha Volume 8 starting at 7 p.m. in Cannery Brewing, with the theme self-made, the art of DIY. Guest speakers will be Jason Cox of The People’s Soda Co. and Chris Mathieson, operator of the Grist Mill in Keremeos.

Until June 11 — Dorothy Tinning: Creative Exploration through Landscape Art. Original paintings celebrating the natural beauty of the Okanagan landscape. In conjunction with the 20th Annual Meadowlark Festival. Also, Reflections: annual high school exhibition, featuring student works from Summerland, Princess Margaret and Penticton Secondary Schools.

June 11 — Wildstone Colours 4 Kids event at LocoLanding Adventure Park from 10 a.m to noon. Join in for the ultimate fun run. Choose to run 2.5 kilometres or five km. During the run you will be covered from head to toe in vibrant (washable) colours. All proceeds go to OSNS Child Development Centre. Race has $20 entry fee. For more info visit www.wildstone.com/run/
