Each year the Meadowlark Festival chooses a different artist’s work to use as the promotional image for the annual nature festival, looking for one that represents the charity’s mission to promote environmental awareness and participation in the Okanagan-Similkameen region.

Laure Neish’s photograph of a meadowlark singing has been chosen as the signature image representing the 2011 Meadowlark Festival.

Each year the Meadowlark Festival chooses a different artist’s work to use as the promotional image for the annual nature festival, looking for one that represents the charity’s mission to promote environmental awareness and participation in the Okanagan-Similkameen region.

Many painters have been featured over the years, but this year event organizers from the Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Alliance turned to a nature photographer, choosing Laure Neish’s Meadowlark Song for the 2011 signature piece.

“I was so pleased when I received the call to say that my photograph had been selected to represent this year’s event. I have been a supporter of the Meadowlark Festival for many years” said Neish. “The Meadowlark Festival is a perfect way for both local residents and visitors to get out and connect with B.C.’s ‘big sky’ country.”

Raffle tickets will be going on sale prior to the festival so that people can enter to win the original framed, signed signature piece. The winner will be announced at the celebration event on May 21 at Linden Gardens.

The Meadowlark Festival will take place from May 19 to 23 this year, with events and ticket sales to be announced soon.
