Venables gets new manager

Bettyanne Hampton is taking over as the manager of Oliver’s new Frank Venables Theatre

Bettyanne Hampton is getting ready to take over her new position as manager of Oliver’s new Frank Venables Theatre.

Hampton, who spent her teenage years in Osoyoos, has an exstensive background in art managment, presentation and education throughout various arts centres on  Vancouver Island.

Prior to this appointment, Hampton has been the executive director of the North Peace Cultural Centre in Fort St. John since 2010.

“The Board is very excited to have attracted such a strong leader within B.C’s lively art scene. Bettyanne is bringing a wealth of energy and expertise in facility management and equally importantly, in collaborative programming and community and professional presentations,” Wendy Newman, president of the theatre’s operating society board of directors, said in a press release.

Hampton’s history also includes experience with arts education managing the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre for seven years, working with music and theatre educators from accross the province.

Hampton will join the team March 30, just in time for the province-wide arts touring conference in April being held in Vancouver.

The conference will host B.C. community theatre managers and presenters as they work together to plan tours  for professional artists coming through the area in the next three years.

Starting next month, Hampton can be reached at the theatre office at 6100 Gala St. in Oliver  either by email at manager@venablestheatre.ca or over the phone at 250-498-1626.
