Penticton RCMP drug busts net three men
Penticton RCMP Drug Task Force busts resulted in three men arrested for trafficking.
On Feb. 21 RCMP officers received information that led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Kelowna man found in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and heroin. The man was arrested in the 800 block of Fairview Road. He was held in custody for court the next day and was released to attend court at a later date. As part of his release conditions, the man is not allowed to be in Penticton except for court purposes. Two charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking have been recommended.
Two days later on Feb. 23, Drug Task Force officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300-block of Nanaimo Avenue West. Officers located and arrested two males and seized a quantity of marijuana plus trafficking paraphernalia such as scales, baggies, cash and cell phones.
A butterfly knife, which is a prohibited weapon, was located in the bedroom of one of the males. The 18-year-old man was on probation with a condition to not possess any knives or weapons.
The other man arrested, a 19-year-old, had been released from custody on a recognizance of bail for possession of marijuana for the purpose trafficking approximately three weeks earlier. He also had a condition to not possess any knives and a knife was located in his bedroom.
Both men were held in custody for court. Charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, breach of recognizance, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation have been recommended.
