Woman killed in early morning crash
A woman was killed in a single vehicle accident on the Channel Parkway on Thursday morning.
RCMP report that at 1:18 a.m. they responded to the scene of where a northbound blue Volkswagen Jetta had gone off the road to the left and struck the concrete wall of an overpass then a concrete barrier and finally came to rest in the ditch approximately 63 metres from the original impact.
“The female driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was deceased at the scene,” said Sgt. Rick Dellebuur. “Speed appears to be a factor as Penticton RCMP and B.C. Coroner Services continue their investigation into the incident.”
The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
