RCMP link two robberies

Penticton RCMP have laid additional charges against a Cawston man who allegedly committed two robberies.

The 31-year-old is currently charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm for the Penticton robbery and similar charges for a Keremeos robbery that took place on Wednesday.

On Dec. 7 at 2:35 p.m. Penticton RCMP were dispatched to a robbery at Britannia Pies located on West Industrial Avenue. The store manager reporter that a Caucasian male, six feet tall, 200 pounds, brown hair, wearing baggy jeans and a brown t-shirt with yellow writing on the back entered the store and demanded money from the till.

"The male flashed what looked like a gun in the waistband of his pants. The male departed with an undisclosed amount of cash from the till. Approximately two hours later a second robbery occurred at the Subway in Keremeos with Penticton and Keremeos RCMP quickly linking the two robberies," said Cpl. Clayton Wiebe.

RCMP said the Cawston male was on bail for a previous robbery out of Vancouver that occurred in August 2011.
