RCMP are asking the public for assistance in locating a man who walked away from the Penticton Regional Hospital on Nov. 26.

Ian Vissers, 46, was being treated under the Mental Health Act at Penticton Regional Hospital when he walked away. The man is believed to have connections to the Lower Mainland and RCMP said he may have already made his way to the Vancouver area.

RCMP said investigative efforts and contact leads with family and friends have been exhausted and have not yielded any information about his current whereabouts. Sgt. Rick Dellebuur said in the past Vissers has gone to Vancouver's eastside and has been known to go by the alias Mesusela. Police believe the man has outdoor survival skills and is able to survive in the wilderness for lengthy periods of time with basic equipment.

Vissers is described as a Caucasian, 5'10", 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Vissers is asked to contact the Penticton RCMp at 250-492-4300 or their local police services.
