Penticton RCMP are seeking assistance from the public in locating Phillipe Ovid Poisson who is wanted B.C. wide.

On Feb. 25, two arrest warrants were issued by the courts for the 21-year-old. The first for failing to comply with a probation order, while a second arrest warrant referred to as a warrant of committal is also in effect.

Poisson was labelled a "high-risk to re-offend" pedophile and was put under a 24-month recognizance in 2010 when he arrived in Penticton after having spent most of his life living in the U.S. in institutions. At the hearing, Judge Mark Takahashi outlined details of Poisson's life which he said includes a "most tragic" history of being a victim of sexual abuse at a very young age. Counsel for Poisson, James Pennington, told the court a lack or resources to allow for proper treatment for Poisson would result in the courts seeing him again soon.

Pennington's comments would prove correct as Poisson has been in and out of the courts several times for a number of breaches of conditions since he was put under the recognizance. He also was found guilty of an assault, assault with a weapon and possession of stolen property after stealing a boat on Skaha Lake and getting into a fight with two men. Poisson had a knife in his possession during the incident but neither of the men were injured.

Poisson is described as a Caucasian male, six-foot-one 187 pounds, with dark brown hair, hazel eyes and a fair complexion. His current whereabouts are unknown and RCMP advise the public to not approach him but immediately call 911. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact their local police services or for those wishing to provide information anonymously call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
