Stolen truck leads Penticton RCMP to drugs and gun
A stolen truck led Penticton RCMP Drug Task Force officers to make arrests and seize various quantities of drugs and a gun.
Cpl. Brad Myhre said 33-year-old Kid Ashley Tye Broadhead, of Calgary, was arrested in a parking lot in the 2100 block of Main Street on Aug. 19.
Broadhead and a 32-year-old female from Calgary were arrested after officers located and recovered a Dodge Dakota pickup truck that had been reported as stolen from Okanagan Falls the previous day. Upon arresting the male suspect RCMP said they also seized various quantities of crystal methamphetamine, ketamine, oxycontin, drug trafficking paraphernalia, an imitation handgun and a .22 calibre handgun. The female was later released with no charges.
Broadhead now faces three charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property over $5,000, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of a handgun and ammunition while prohibited from doing so.
RCMP said Broadhead has a lengthy criminal record with numerous outstanding criminal charges in Both Hanna and Calgary, Alta. He was remanded into custody.
