Convicted sex offender arrested near Okanagan Falls
A convicted sex offender living in Okanagan Falls has been arrested for breaching his conditions and failing to stop for an RCMP officer.
Ronald Arthur Teneycke, who was recently released from jail after being convicted for breach of conditions and possession of methamphetamine in October, is back behind bars.
"Essentially during the early morning hours of March 13, Teneycke was arrested by one of our members on a rural road outside of Okanagan Falls. He was arrested for failing to abide by a probation order and failing to stop for police," said Penticton RCMP Staff Sgt. Dave Fayle. "He is in custody and will be remanded in custody until the matter is dealt with."
Fayle said RCMP are still continuing with their investigation.
At his last court appearance in October where he was sentenced to 133 days, Crown counsel described Teneycke as an extremely violent sexual predator with a lengthy criminal history.
Teneycke spent 12 years in a federal prison, most of those for a sexual assault with a weapon on a 17-year-old Okanagan Falls female in 1993. Since his release from prison on that matter he has been in and out of jail for breaches, including a 2010 conviction that resulted in a 14-month jail term and the maximum probation of three years. As his probation was coming to a close, Crown sought an application to have restrictions and controls put on on him as a person they fear will commit a serious offence, but the application was later abandoned. Weeks later Teneycke was arrested by Penticton RCMP after security at the Penticton Lakeside Casino caught what they believed to be suspicious activity on their video surveillance cameras. RCMP believed they saw two people in a truck in the parked of the casino snorting something. They later arrested Teneycke with a 17-year-old female and found 0.4 grams of methamphetamine on his person.
Teneycke was handed three years probation with conditions he was to abide by once he was released including a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew and no contact with females under 18 unless they are accompanied with an adult aware of the order.
