Power outage planned for Penticton Industrial area

Penticton’s electric utility has declared an early morning power outage for a section of the city's industrial area Friday morning.

From 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., power will be out between 272 to 568 Dawson Ave., as well as at 2219, 2303, 2324 and 2360 Government St.

The notice from the electric utility includes a warning that the power outage will affect any computers, elevators, intercoms, garage door openers, alarms and entry gates.

if your building is equipped with a fire alarm system or sprinkler system you must notify the Penticton Fire Department at 250-490-2305 to obtain instructions for a fire watch.

As well, building managers or caretakers should notify the alarm agencies, fire department and lock elevators open 10 minutes prior to the outage and return elevator controls to normal when power is restored. Garage doors and entry gates can be opened at your discretion prior to the outage to allow access.
