UPDATE: July 27 - 10:41 a.m

RCMP have now identified the body of a man recovered from Okanagan Lake early Wednesday morning in West Kelowna.

“RCMP investigators have now positively identified the deceased as a 49-year-old Kelowna man,” stated Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “The investigation into the man’s death has now been turned over to the BC Coroners Service, as his death has been deemed not suspicious in nature.”

On July 27, 2017 shortly before 8:30 am, West Kelowna RCMP were called after the discovery of a deceased male found floating in the waters of Okanagan Lake in the Casa Loma area.

Police are not releasing the man’s name.

RCMP are currently on scene, after the discovery of a deceased male found floating in the waters of Okanagan Lake in the Casa Loma area of Lake View Heights in West Kelowna.

West Kelowna RCMP were called to the scene of the discovery shortly before 8:30 am this morning.

The investigation, into the man’s death, is in the early stages as RCMP await the arrival of a coroner with the BC Coroners Service.

“As such, the deceased has not yet been positively identified,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “The support of the local fire department and a trained dive team will likely be required for the safe recovery of the man’s body.”

The West Kelowna RCMP will continue to work closely with BC Coroners Service.
