Naramata Fire and Rescue said there is a controlled burn ongoing in the Chute Lake area and it is not a cause for concern.

“I’m getting a lot of calls about it. Now that it gets dark out earlier it was really noticeable I guess,” said Naramata Fire Chief Tony Trovao. “It is glowing pretty good, but it is a controlled slash burn and nothing to be concerned about.”

Naramata RDOS director Karla Kozakevich confirmed that Gorman Bros. Lumber has been taking several truckloads of trees down from the area and they are now cleaning up the site.
