The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen will be holding a public information session on Dec. 7 following completion of the West Bench geotechnical survey.

The RDOS is looking to update the electoral area’s official community plan and the zoning bylaw in order to incorporate the updated information from the survey.

The virtual public information meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at https://rdos.webex.com. The meeting number is 2486 948 6485 and password is RD@S.

The survey studied the entirety of the Greater West Bench, including Sage Mesa and the Hisula Highlands, and mapped out areas of potential hazards and risks.

Among some of the potential hazards identified by the study was the fact large chunks of Greater West Bench sit on compacted clay, landslide and sinkhole risks in areas near embankments and gullies, the lack of a municipal wastewater system and inconsistent stormwater management.
