The Oliver Fire Department were quick to the scene and to knock down a fire that consumed a motorhome and vehicle on Monday, Sept. 13.
The department had initially been responding to reports of a structure fire around 10 a.m., but that was only due to the fire’s location behind a building that gave the impression of a burning building to passersby.
Within 20 minutes of arriving, the fire was contained and crews were on scene for about an hour mopping up any remaining hotspots.

The fire did not cause any damage to any structure other than the two vehicles, due largely to the fact the vehicles had been parked on the concrete slab of what was a packing facility, which burned down three years earlier.
Fire department spokesperson Rob Graham said that due to the amount of damage, determining an ignition point or cause would be difficult.
“There are indications that someone may have been living in it,” said Graham. “There was nobody in the vehicle at the time or in the area to say at the time, ‘That’s my vehicle.’”
RCMP were also called to the scene.
