Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said the overnight theft Sunday of three firearms from a vehicle parked in the 700-block Winnipeg Street is of serious concern to police.

Taken was a Smith and Wesson revolver and Winchester 30-30 and Weatherby Magnum .270 rifles along with some ammunition. Police received the report of the theft Monday afternoon.

All the firearms had trigger locks.

“They are already on the street,” said Wrigglesworth when asked if it’s likely the guns may be used illegally in the future. “Obviously they were obtained through the commission of a crime because somebody broke into a vehicle and stole them so of course that person now has possession of them.

“That person doesn’t in my mind doesn’t have a record of making good choices so any future choices may be suspect.”

The serial number of the revolver is B3234.

The guns owner reportedly found the doors to the car open Sunday morning.

The matter remains under investigation.
