Kelowna on Tap for CRAFT Beer Market

Popular restaurant group to open in city’s downtown core

The first tenant in the converted Paramount Theatre on Bernard Avenue has been revealed.

CRAFT Beer Market announced Monday that it will be starting construction later this year, to open in early 2018.

CRAFT will feature craft beer from B.C and around the world, as well as their fresh, local and sustainable food program.

“We are extremely excited to be joining the Kelowna community,” said PJ L’Heureux, president and founder of CRAFT Beer Market, in a press release.

“We are looking forward to sharing our love of craft beer and local food with the community while preserving the building’s historic roots.”

The new Kelowna location will feature 482 seats, including a three-season rooftop patio with greenery and heaters for the cooler days. Developers have also refurbished the existing marquee and the historic Paramount sign.

“Since I was born, I have spent every summer in the Okanagan, and love everything about it. We recognize the important role the Paramount Theatre played in this community and we want to continue to honour its legacy,” said L’Heureux.

CRAFT Beer Market opened its first restaurant in Calgary six years ago, and has continued to grow by adding new locations in Ottawa, Edmonton Vancouver and Toronto.

Each CRAFT location has more than 100 beers on tap, giving guests options ranging from small neighbourhood breweries to well-established North American and European favourites.

In addition to its outstanding beer selection, CRAFT Beer Market also boasts a commitment to fresh, local foods and locally-sourced ingredients. CRAFT’s “New North American Cuisine,” offers a wide-range of delicious options for everyone.

“We pride ourselves on making all of our dishes in house from scratch and work with local producers and farmers as much as possible to serve only the freshest and most sustainable ingredients available,” says L’Heureux. “We are committed to our communities and look forward to seeing our partnerships in Kelowna grow.”

Calgary-based CRAFT Beer Market opened the doors to its first location in Calgary’s Beltline district in 2011. They followed up with locations in False Creek, Vancouver and downtown Edmonton in 2013, and Ottawa’s Shops of Lansdowne in May 2016.

This year, CRAFT will open two more locations. A second Calgary location will open at Southcentre at the end of August, and downtown Toronto will open in late Fall.
