Allendale Lake Resort campground in OK Falls has been put on evacuation alert as of 4:15 p.m. today, July 21.

The campground is off 201 Forest Service Road where fire crews have been actively battling the Thomas Creek fire. The RDOS Emergency Operations Centre issued the alert.

The Thomas Creek fire was also given an update by the RDOS, and is currently burning more to the north and east, away from Okanagan Falls where it had initially threatened. The 704 evacuation alerts for residents there are still in place, but no orders are currently active.

The 6,558-hectare wildfire above OK Falls saw minimal growth Tuesday and fire crews were successful in defending a wooden bridge at the 17 kilometre mark on the 201 road.

The protection of life and property along the south flank will continue as the main priority. Work on a contingency guard will continue to the north and west.
