A 33-year-old Penticton man is facing multiple weapons-related charges following an incident Sept. 30 in the Tim Hortons parking lot on Skaha Lake Road.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said police were called at 10 p.m. about a possible fight involving a firearm.

“Two males and a female located were detained for a search for firearms and what appeared to be a real firearm was located in the waist of David Kidd,” said Wrigglesworth. “It turned out to be a pellet gun and a further search found him to be in possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition which included brass knuckles.”

Charges include carrying a concealed weapon, possession of prohibited weapons and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.

Kidd appeared in court and was released on recognizance.

In another matter involving a possible firearm, police were called to a church near Orchard Avenue and Winnipeg Street where three males were spotted at 12:43 p.m. on Sept. 28.

Upon arrival police located two of the males and what appeared to be a firearm which turned out to be a paintball gun although it was not immediately recognized as such.

The males were also found to be in possession of live ammunition which was a breach of probation for both.

“They were held for court and ended up being released because the evidence did not meet the charges approval standards,” said Wrigglesworth.
