RCMP recovered a stolen handgun allegedly used in a residential break and enter in Penticton after executing a search warrant on Friday.

A 26-year-old man was also arrested, in connection with outstanding warrants, at the same location where the handgun was recovered.

RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said the arrest of Seamus Kirby of Penticton and execution of the search warrant was conducted by members of the Penticton South Okanagan Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU).

The nine millimetre handgun had been reported stolen from an earlier residential break and enter in Penticton.

“This intelligence based investigation lead to another firearm being removed from the streets and away from criminals,” said Const. Ryan Shedden of the TEU in a news release

Kirby, who is known to police, is set to appear in court Wednesday.
