Penticton bus service won't be affected by a possible Central Okanagan Transit Strike.

A possible transit strike in the Central Okanagan won't affect services in Penticton and area.

Talks have broken off between the Amalgamated Transit Union and transit operator First Canada, and drivers could be on strike in the Central Okanagan as early as Sunday, after the union issued a 72-hour strike notice Thursday.

Penticton Transit Service Ltd. has been operated by a local company, Berry and Smith, since service started in 1977.

"We operate the buses to Naramata, OK Falls and Penticton, and the Penticton & District Community Resources Society operates the Summerland bus," said Transportation supervisor Mike Palosky, confirming a Central Okanagan strike wouldn't affect service around the city or to other local communities.
