A Princeton man has been accused of threatening a witness in a case against him, and the RCMP laid three new charges last week against Johnathan Haller.
Haller, 22, was charged Monday with engaging in conduct with the intent to provoke a state of fear in a justice system participant, uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm, and willfully attempting to obstruct justice.
“These are very serious charges,” said RCMP Corporal Chad Parsons.
Haller was arrested May 18 in connection with a home invasion and assault on a 91-year-old Princeton resident that occurred earlier that month.

He has been in custody since that time, and according to Parsons the incidents that lead to the most recent charges occurred while Haller was behind bars.
“These are from actions after he was in custody,” he said. “The original charges that Haller faces are also very serious with respect to the home invasion and we will not tolerate any intimidation of our witnesses who did the right thing and came forward.”
Haller was originally charged with two counts of uttering threats, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of unsafe storage of a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm while prohibited.
According to Parsons additional charges connected with the home invasion are pending.
