At 4:45 p.m. Penticton RCMP responded to hit and run motor vehicle accident where a pedestrian, riding a mobility scooter, was struck in the crosswalk on Green Avenue West near Wal-Mart. The suspect vehicle is described as a grey car, possibly a hatchback.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said the vehicle hit the scooter in the front wheel and broke it off. The scooter was owned by Creative Mobility and needed to be removed by a tow truck.

Wrigglesworth said the operator of the scooter was not injured but has physical limitations. The scooter was in a marked crosswalk and RCMP said visibility in this area is ideal.

The suspect vehicle was last seen turning near the 7-11 or possibly into the back alley and never returned.
