Sentencing for townhouse arson next month

The sentencing hearing for the Penticton teen who pleaded guilty to an arson will take place in February.

The sentencing hearing for the Penticton teen who pleaded guilty to an arson which caused irreparable damage to four townhouse units won’t take place until February.

A psychiatric report was expected to be completed by Jan. 4 however, counsels were informed Jan. 3 the report would not be completed in time.

Judge Greg Koturbash ordered the report be prepared for Feb. 3, with a sentencing hearing scheduled to take place Feb. 6.

The community stepped up for the residents of Cascade Gardens whose townhomes were gutted by the Oct. 13, 2016 fire. Gift cards, donations and GoFundMe.com accounts were set up in the days following.
