The area around Campbell Mountain is drawing so many recreational enthusiasts that parking is becoming a concern in the area.

Campbell Mountain is well used for recreational purposes including, hiking, biking, horseback riding, dog walking and more, but there is limited roadside parking available.

Current parking arrangements have resulted in emergency access to the mountain being blocked, Reservoir Road is starting to get congested with parked cars, and vehicles are being parked on private property which is creating access issues for local residents.

To help alleviate the problem, Penticton’s public works department is installing a gravel parking lot near the junction of Greyback Mountain Rd., Reservoir Rd. and Spiller Rd. Construction is expected to start this week, and it will take about a week before the new lot is ready for use.

When a management plan for the area is developed the temporary parking lot may be removed, relocated or expanded to meet the needs determined by the plan.
