The Thomas Creek wildfire has seen minimal growth according to the latest update from the BC Wildfire Service.

The fire is still classified as out of control and an estimated 5,500 hectares in size.

On Friday, July 16, crews were patrolling close to three kilometres of the western flank of the fire and extinguishing hot spots.

In addition to 30 BC Wildfire firefighters and four helicopters attached to the fire, members of the local fire department and multiple pieces of heavy equipment are stationed at the fire.

The heavy equipment has built up a fire suppression guard around portions of the fire, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
