Penticton RCMP are continuing to investigate the death of a man whose body was found in the ditch on the eastern side of the Channel Parkway Thursday evening.
Police were called to the section of the parkway (Hwy. 97) where it passes under the old KVR railway bridge at about 8:45 p.m. on July 7, after a body was noticed by a driver who had stopped along the roadside. Officers attending the scene confirmed the body was that of a deceased adult male, apparently in his mid to late 40’s.
Investigators also located a makeshift campsite in the area, suggesting the male could be a transient. Investigators from the RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service were assisted by a police service dog team and a forensic ident section member as they continued to examine the scene Friday.
“The death is being treated as suspicious at this time, mainly due to the location of where the body was found, efforts to positively identify the man and determine whether his death is criminal in nature are continuing,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
