ANTHONY GEORGE

Tony Rotschy born in Zurich, Switzerland on March 19, 1929 passed away suddenly at Westview Care, in Penticton on June 1, 2017. He came to B.C., Canada in 1935 where his parents established a farm in Telkwa, B.C. He helped the family work the farm and loved to fish and hunt. As a teenager, he came to the Okanagan with his friend Bill Cassler, where he met Roy Van, who became his best friend. Tony met the love of his life, Pat and they married in 1953. They established T&D Automotive and later became a Fiat and Mazda dealer.

Tony was known for being outgoing, a sports enthusiast, and an outdoorsman. Some of his experiences and achievements were: skier; fisher; hunter; square dancer; pilot in which he built his own aircraft with his friend Phil Proteau; accomplished mechanic; and built a family cabin with Pat at Link Lake using a portable mill and hand tools; was active in the Penticton flying club; and participated in the Osprey Lake Association.

Sadly, Pat passed away in 1985. Tony re-married in 1986 to Betty. Tony is survived by his children: Lynda (Gord) Thompson; Debby (Ken) Milligan; and Tom, by his grandchildren: Hilary (Jesse); Tarah (Jeff); Tom; Leigh; Tanner; Kenna; Colin, and great grandchildren: Grace; Ellie; and James. There are also countless extended family. He was known for being friendly, forthright, helpful, and having a ready smile. Tony was loved and respected by those who knew him and will be dearly missed.
