TYLER, BETTY KLARA

July 5, 1927 – February 26, 2017

Betty passed away peacefully at Penticton Hospital with her son by her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Graham Tyler. Betty is survived by her son, Gary Gierlichs and daughter in law, Susan Hatfield; granddaughter, Lindsay Dionne and husband, Tracy, as well as great granddaughters, Stella and Annalise Dionne. Betty immigrated from Germany in 1954 and proudly became a Canadian citizen, initially settling in Invermere, BC and later moving to Summerland and finally Penticton. Her working life was spent as a seamstress and many of those years were with Grant King Men’s Wear. Betty was loving, wise, strong, funny and above all kind. We will miss her terribly yet cherish our memories. A celebration of a life well lived will be held in the spring. Special thank you to the staff and residents of Athens Creek Lodge and the nurses and doctors of Penticton Regional Hospital involved in Betty’s care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation for the new Penticton Hospital tower.
