EDWARDS Shirley Elizabeth (Holt)

Passed away in her sleep on May 14, 2017 in Penticton following a short battle with cancer at the age of 80 years. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard, sisters Kathleen, Queenie, Ethel, and Rita, and brother Terry. She with be sadly missed by her daughters Tracy and Melanie, grandson Brendan, brother Michael, sister-in-law Lily, and many nieces and nephews in England. Shirley was born in London and grew up there during World War II. She was training to become a nurse when she met Leonard. After marrying, they lived for a time in India before returning to England, and they subsequently emigrated to Canada in 1966. Shirley and Leonard lived for many years in southern Ontario before retiring to Penticton in 1993. Shirley selflessly volunteered at hospitals in Ontario and BC for many years. She will be remembered for her kindness to others, colourful stories, and witty sense of humour. Shirley’s family extends their gratitude for the compassionate and attentive care received in her final days at Moog & Friends Hospice House. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to Lung Cancer Canada or Moog Hospice House.
