Florence Anne (Anne) Stickney

Anne passed quietly on Friday February 13, 2015 at the age of 99 at Trinity Care Centre in Penticton. Born in Horely Surrey England on July 28, 1915 the 4th child of 9. She is survived by her sisters Cicely of Australia and Marjorie of England. Anne was married in England in 1942 as War Bride to Gordon Henry and immigrated to Canada in 1946. Survived by three sons; Leslie (Marie), David (Donna) Doug (Joan), 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Anne and Gordon moved to Penticton in 1950 where they enjoyed great times fishing and hunting until Gordon’s death in 1987. Anne was a volunteer of the Penticton Boys Club and was instrumental in the formation of the first Caregivers Support group in Canada in 1983, which she remained active with for 20 years. Anne was also a member of the Penticton War Brides Association. She leaves a legacy of kindness; always willing to listen to or tell a story, help a friend and support where support was needed. She touched the lives of many in her 99 years. Family and friends will gather in July to celebrate her “would be” 100th birthday.
