1939 – 2016

Born in St. Francois, New Brunswick June 10, 1939, Gerald passed away July 19, 2016 in Penticton. He is survived by his wife, Nathalie Butler; sons, Charles (Massayo), Pierre (Maiko) and Marc (Veronique); grandchildren, Alexandre, Cassandra and Sienna; brothers, Bertin (Julie), Gratien (Jackie), Jean-Louis (Vivianne) and Hermile (Monika); sisters, Marielle (Peter) and Danielle as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gerald joined the RCMP 1960 to 1969 as a trumpet player in Ottawa before pursuing a career in education as music director and teacher at Andre Laurendeau High School in Ottawa. In 2005 he moved to Penticton and joined the Acadamy of Music teaching brass and woodwinds as well as directing Penticton Concert Band until 2015 and the Tune-Agers for 2 seasons. His passion for music excellence touched everyone he encountered. He will be missed and remembered by all who knew him. A celebration of Gerald’s life will take place Saturday, July 23, 2016 – 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1130 Carmi Ave., Penticton. Memorial tributes may be directed to the Penticton Concert Band c/o Penticton & District Community Arts Council, Leir House, 220 Manor Park Ave., Penticton, V2A 2R2 or to Moog & Friends Hospice House.
