Passed away peacefully at Moog & Friends Hospice House on November 26, 2014. An only child, Gwen was born in Camrose, Alberta to Wallace and Edith Matson, her family moved to BC’s lower mainland where she attended school in Richmond. Predeceased by her husband, Donald, in 2004, they lived in many communities throughout BC where she worked as a retail or hardware clerk at Marshall Wells, Eatons, Sears, etc. settling in Penticton for the last 20 years. Gwen is survived by her son, Brent (Wendy) Halliday, three grandchildren; Richard, Shane and Trinity, three great grandchildren; Chalene, Ciara and Taylor. Also by her god child, Dianne and her daughters; Elora and Elishea Watts. Gwen enjoyed her retirement travelling as a snowbird and on bus tours to Alaska and US. She volunteered time with many charities within Penticton. She enjoyed volunteering with Don as host with BC Parks. Gwen was very appreciative of her friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Providence Funeral Homes, 1258 Main Street, Penticton, BC. No flowers by request.
