McElroy

Early this morning, November 16, 2016, Mrs. Janet Gay McElroy passed away gently in her sleep. Her nurses at Moog and Friends Hospice House were with her, so she was with part of her new family. Jan wanted her body donated to University of British Columbia for research purposes and she was accepted this morning. The Memorial Society will be handling the arrangements to UBC.

The family will be having a small private gathering. They ask that their wishes for a private gathering be honoured. The family is also asking that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Penticton and District Hospice Society. Donations can be made in person or online at Pentictonhospice.com.

Over the last few months, Jan became very close with all of the hospice staff, and they became part of her “Caring Angels”. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thank them from the bottom of their hearts for the incredible care they provided to Jan during her final months and days.

Jan was born on November 17, 1948 in Grace Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, to parents Julie and W. Bruce Morris. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Leigh McElroy, and her sister, Lani Morris, her children, Bruce McElroy and his wife, Michelle, and Samantha Cardinal and her husband Dale, as well as her four wonderful grandchildren, Connor, Zoe, Siobhan and Jeniah.

The family would like to thank everyone that spent time visiting with Jan in her final days. They send great appreciation and love to Roz, Amita, Moira, Gale, Gertie and Celeste. Thank you to Bill and Maxine Stevenson for all of their love and support.
