We are sad to announce the passing of Ken on August 2, 2016 at the age of 84. Ken was born and raised in Oliver and made Penticton his home. He was a book keeper and worked many places over his career. Ken is remembered as having great kindness and compassion. On many occasions he took others into his home to provide love and care. One of his most rewarding acts was, during his sister’s time of need, caring for his niece and nephews and the bonds it created. Family and friends were of great importance to Ken. He found joy in sharing good times with those around him. Great memories were made at the family cabin at Beaver Lake where he enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing. Even though it was a small place, it was never too small to have friends and family share in its beauty. Ken was also a member of the Legion and the Mayflower Society. Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine, his children Eleanor (Kevin) Smith and Tracey (Robert) Potter, his grandchildren Jakob, Roman, Lynn and Allen, his sister Betty-Ann Russell, brother Gordon Potter, his mother-in-law Violet Wright, sister-in-law Joan Potter and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Annie Potter, brother Bob and father-in-law Tom Wright all of Oliver. The family would like to thank Brent from Home Support for always making Ken smile. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Penticton Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
