March 28, 1928 ~ January 23, 2017

Lothar was born to Maria and Wilhelm Pfaff in Essen Germany on March 28th, 1928. He was the oldest of their three children. He learned his trade as a bricklayer in his young teens. In 1951 he migrated to Canada where he worked up north as a logger near Beaverlodge, Alberta. A few years later he met his wife, Inge. They then moved to Edmonton, Alberta where he established a masonry company and they had three children: Doris, Roland and Karen. In 1974 the family moved to Kelowna. A few years later Mum and Dad divorced and they remained best friends until the end. Later years brought Lothar to the Elko where he pursued his life-long masonry work, specializing in stonework. He had many friends and acquaintances in Elko and Fernie and surrounding areas. COPD struck Lothar in the late 1980s, but he worked until he was in his 80s. The last few months it was discovered he had cancer. Lothar, an Edmonton Oilers fan, was called “Boss” by many and was a very avid reader in English and German until maybe a few months ago when it slowly stopped. Cooking was also a love of his, many delicious German recipes were made with delight. Lothar is survived by his children: Doris Pfaff and Roland Pfaff, Karen Waterman, grandchildren: Keira Pfaff, Karl Waterman, Jasmine Waterman, and Summer Waterman, sister Doris Solomon, brother Juergen Pfaff, and his wife and best friend, Inge. He was sadly predeceased by his parents, Wilhelm and Maria Pfaff, and grandsons Killian J Pfaff and Kyle Lothar Pfaff. Family was by his side as he took his last breaths. Always remembered, never forgotten.

Love you Dad, Lothar

All our love, Doris, Roland, Inge, Keira and
