Letter: Accurate gathering of information

Global News Vancouver recently ran a report stating “seniors who moved to B.C. cost our health care X billions of dollars,” a little farther in the report states “seniors leaving Quebec save their health care $6 billion.”

Global News Vancouver recently ran a report stating “seniors who moved to B.C. cost our health care X billions of dollars,” a little farther in the report states “seniors leaving Quebec save their health care $6 billion.”

It took me a couple of seconds to realize what I found strange about that report. Consider had that report read as refugees, or First Nations, or gays, or any other group would there be a public outcry about discrimination?

Just for the record, I believe that the accurate gathering of information would require it to be stated that way and that we as a society have become over sensitive in many cases. What is done with that information would be what matters.
