Letter: Flights shouldn’t be cancelled

It is good of our MP, Mr. Richard Cannings, to make us aware of Air Canada’s plans to delete the early morning and late evening flights between Vancouver and Penticton. It is hoped that the Penticton city council will also back Mr. Cannings and state, to Air Canada, the effect of losing these flights to Penticton.

I have used these flights many times over the years and noticed the planes are usually full. I must question the decision by Air Canada to discontinue the service. These flights are important for businesswomen and men because it gives them sufficient time to do their business in Vancouver. The flights are also important to travellers who must make connections within Canada and internationally.

It is commendable that Air Canada is switching to using the Q400 airplanes, because of their technical advantages. However, the old Dash 8s have been a formidable means of transportation for the last few years and they could continue to service the morning and evening flights.
