I suggest our democracy needs a better electoral system to ensure that every vote counts

In 2015, 39 per cent of the votes cast, and 68.5 per cent of the population voted, gave the current Liberal government 100 per cent of the power, and that power has gone to their heads.

Recently Finance Minister Bill Morneau announced the government will purchase the Kinder Morgan pipeline and the Burnaby Marine terminal for $4.5 billion. We’re told that figure does not include the cost of the jobs to complete the pipeline.

The government has not released that estimated cost, however, experts have and they suggest taxpayers on the hook for about $7 billion. That’s an abuse of power, remember 39 per cent of the 68.5 per cent of the votes cast.

I suggest our democracy needs a better electoral system to ensure that every vote counts, and by the way, that was one of the first campaign promises the current Liberal government broke.
