Letter: Save our bowling green

A plea to save the Penticton Lawn Bowling Club

Penticton Western News letters to the editor.

Low cost housing, great idea, I am all in favour of that, but not at the cost of loosing a great sporting facility.

The city have decided that when the lease is up on the Lawn Bowling Club in two years time that area will be just perfect for building on. The car park has already been earmarked. Please, please do not build there, there are so many vacant areas in the city that could be used.

The bowling club has been there since 1927, and it would take at least two years to lay a new green in another place, so work would need to start now. I just wish the mayor and some of the councillors had visited the club on the weekend of Sept. 23 and seen so many bowlers enjoying playing their sport.

A plea in desperation, save our bowling green.
