LETTERS: NDP leader

It has been amusing to see the vulture-like response to the federal NDP leadership opening.

It has been amusing to see the vulture-like response to the federal NDP leadership opening.

Would the far-left wing of the party take over? Who would run? Is the NDP not relevant anymore?

I, like many other NDP members, believe that a healthy society is one in which every child and adult person has rights, opportunities, and responsibilities: that good health care, education, and pensions be included in our governance.  Also, careful use of the environment and its resources should be mandatory so all have clean air and water.

Today, most of the wealth is held by a few individuals and corporations who hide as much as they can in tax shelters around the world.  They do not really believe in helping others as greed, not need, is their credo.

I am firmly a believer in democratic action. But, I also believe in sharing and responsibility by all for all.  Check out the Scandinavian countries for democratic socialism at work.
