Canucks' Horvat and Shinkaruk playing in Young Stars Classic

Vancouver Canuck draft picks Bo Horvat and Hunter Shinkaruk will be among the notable prospects from the 2013 NHL Draft featured in the Canucks Young Stars Classic.

The Canucks Young Stars Classic, which starts at the South Okanagan Events Centre Sept. 5, will feature prospects from the Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets.

Joining Horvat and Shinkaruk are fellow Canuck draft picks Cole Cassels (85th), Jordan Subban (115) and Miles Liberati (205th).

From the Flames, confirmed to attend are Sean Monahan (sixth overall), Emile Poirier (22nd) and Morgan Klimchuk (28th), Keegan Kanzig (67th) and Eric Roy (135th).

The Edmonton Oilers have committed to bring Darnell Nurse, Marc-Olivier Roy (56th), Jackson Houck (94th), Kyle Platzer (96th) and Ben Betker (158th), while the Jets will have 13th overall pick Josh Morrissey along with fellow 2013 selections Nicolas Petan (43rd), Eric Comrie (59th), Jimmy Lodge (84th), JC Lipon (91st), Jan Kostalek (114th) and Brenden Kichton (190th).

The San Jose Sharks 18th selection Mirco Mueller is slated to dress, as is Gabryel Boudreau (49th).

Tournament ticket packages, which include a ticket to eight tournament games, are $70 plus applicable fees and are on sale now. Tickets are available online at www.valleyfirsttix.com, by phone at 1-877-763-2849, or in person at the Valley First Box Office at the South Okanagan Events Centre or at Penticton & Wine Country Visitor Centre. Single game tournament tickets will go on sale in August.
