Penticton breweries could soon be in the running to receive worldwide acclaim.

Registration is now open for the 2025 World Beer Cup, a global competition that typically receives around 9,000 entries from 50 different nations every year.

Hoping Penticton — proclaimed by Lonely Planet as Canada's Craft Beer Capital — is represented?

Registration is open from Nov. 12 to Dec. 13, as the competition accepts submissions in several different categories.

The event is organized by the Colorado-based Brewers Association.

“The World Beer Cup has stood as a pillar of the global brewing community since 1996, bringing together the craft, dedication, and ingenuity that define the best beers worldwide,” said Chris Williams, competition director.

“As we approach the 2025 competition, I’m eager for another year of remarkable submissions from breweries, and now cideries, from all over the world. This year’s event promises to be unforgettable — get ready to witness global brewing at its finest."

The annual competition looks to "raise consumer awareness of diverse beer styles and flavour profiles while celebrating excellence in brewing worldwide," according to a press release.

Penticton is currently home to eight breweries: Tin Whistle, Cannery, Neighbourhood, Barley Mill, Yellow Dog, Slackwater, Abandoned Rail and Highway 97.

Breweries can register for the competition here.

Winners from the 2025 event will be announced in May during a ceremony at the Indiana Convention Centre in Indianapolis.
